Distance Education for Caregivers

Web-Based Lessons

These one or two-hour lessons are completed at your computer and sent electronically to Better Kid Care for review by an early childhood instructor. Online access is given for a 3-month period to practitioners upon receipt of registration and prepayment of $5.00 for each lesson.

How to Register

  1. Preview lesson material by selecting titles in Distance Education list. Titles are listed in Core Body of Knowledge (CBK) order and also include CDA codes. (Professional Development credit only awarded to individuals who register)
  2. Enter Web-Based Registration (link below)
  3. Create Friends of Penn State (FPS) account
    Returning user continues registration with previously obtained FPS User ID.
  4. Enter eStore to complete online registration and credit card payment.
  5. Receive Email Verification of Registration and payment from Better Kid Care. (Please allow 72 hours to process)

Registration Includes:

  • Email notification of registration and instructions to use ANGEL system
  • Three-month online access to individual lesson materials
              Forgot your online password? GO to Friends of Penn State site to reset password
  • Same 3-month online access to Assignments to electronically submit
  • Completed assignments reviewed by an early childhood instructor (Please allow 2 weeks for review process)
  • Email notification of successful completion and access to online instructor's comments
  • Certificate issued and mailed upon successful completion

Continue Web-Based Registration

Organizations requesting multiple registrations with one payment or prefer not to use the above online registration service can download an order form and have each individual request an FPS Account - (Use this link to create a Friends of Penn State Account -- Do not proceed to eStore) Record FPS Account number(s) on order form and simply fax or mail with payment to Better Kid Care.

Residents outside Pennsylvania can participate by submitting the out-of-state order form.
