Requirements
This orientation package is intended for people caring for children in their homes. Caring for children in your home is an important service to parents and to your community.
This three-part series covers what you need to know about establishing, running, and maintaining a successful child care business and presents important information about understanding and supporting the developmental needs of each child in your care.
The workbook and VHS video can be requested and mailed for free to home-based caregivers in Pennsylvania. Prepayment will be required when submitting the orientation assignments for review ($5.00 per assignment packet).

If you are a home-based provider call Better Kid Care to order material-- DO NOT use the Distance Education order forms or online eStore.
Material for this three-part orientation series is free for home-based caregivers. Individual lessons can be ordered by Center and Group Home providers ($5 fee for each lesson) by using the Distance Education order system.

The Better Kid Care Program is directed by James Van Horn, Ph.D., CFLE (jev@psu.edu). The Assistant Director of Distance Education is Patricia Wells, (plw8@psu.edu). Faculty and staff from within the university and from other educational institutions in the state are involved in the development and implementation of the program.
