CHILD CARE TIPS FOR PARENTS
PSA #1 - Parents, working as a team with
your child care provider can make a difference in your child’s care.
Take time to talk with the caregiver about your child each day. Check
the daily child care schedule and find out what your child enjoys doing.
The Penn State University Cooperative Extension Better Kid Care Program
has information on children's issues for early childhood educators, child
care providers, and parents on the Better Kid Care Web site at:
www.betterkidcare.psu.edu.
PSA #2 - Try to visit your child care program
when you can and volunteer to help during special events or field trips.
Read notices and newsletters that are sent home. Be alert for schedule
changes. Bring in required items, such as diapers or extra clothing, on
time.

PSA #3 - If you have a child in child care,
keep emergency information in your child’s file updated. This includes
numbers where you can be reached at all times and information about others
who have permission to pick up your child from child care.

OUTDOOR PLAY YEAR-ROUND
PSA #4 -When choosing child care, it is
important to find the right caregiver for your child. Good child care
providers are warm, caring, and understanding with children. Visit several
programs and spend time talking with the caregiver. Observe the caregiver
with the children.

has experience working with children the same age as your child. Trained
providers understand child development and know what children need to
learn new skills. They make learning fun for children!
